The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered at John Hersey High School on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.  Students need to report to Carter Gym no later than 7:30AM.

This test measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills important for success in college.

Why take the PSAT?

We encourage juniors to take the PSAT because it identifies National Merit Scholars and enables students who score at the highest levels to qualify for college scholarships.  It also provides excellent practice for the SAT Reasoning Test, one of the major college entrance exams. We also encourage our sophomores to take the test as a practice test.

The PSAT can be used as a predictor for SAT scores. It allows students to compare their academic skills with those of other college-bound students.

If you are entitled to testing accommodations, PLEASE see your Counselor or Case Manager for additional information. The deadline for submitting testing accommodation Eligibility Forms and Documentation for the October 2016 PSAT/NMSQT is 8/30/16. Click here for more information about College Board accommodations.

The Registration Fee to take the test is $25 through 3:00PM on September 9, 2016 (extended to 9/13/16); thereafter it is $30.  For PSAT/NMSQT Registration Forms and Prep Registration Forms, please click on forms links below:
