There are a variety of post-secondary activities and tasks students can be doing during Remote Learning days. Please see the various options below per grade level.

So You Want to Go to College?

Did you miss the "So You Want to Go to College?" presentation on 1/29/20? Look through the presentation slides and ask any questions during the Zoom chat with Mr. Chiakulas on Tuesday, April 7th from 12-1pm.

Explore Post-High School Career Options

Not sure what career you want to pursue? Use Career Cruising's "My Matchmaker" assessment to generate a list of options based on your interests. Make sure to check out the "Related Careers" for some options you may not have thought of before!

Open Q&A for the Class of 2021 

Watch this update video for the Class of 2021 and then join Mr. Chiakulas for an open Q&A session via Zoom chat on Thursday, April 2nd from 12-1pm. Drop in to ask about making your college list, financial aid, testing, visiting campuses, etc. Or, just come to hear what questions others have! Students and parents welcome to join in!

College Search and Creating Your College List

Make sure to finish your "College Planning Worksheet" in Naviance! Use it to help update your list of "Colleges I'm Thinking About" in Naviance with a variety of college search options. Join the Zoom chat with Mr. Chiakulas from 1-2pm on Friday, April 3rd with questions.

Virtual College Tours

Take a tour of a college campus online. Think about what does and does not make this school the "right fit" for you. Update your college list as necessary! Check out options on YouVisit: https://www.youvisit.com/collegesearch/.

Financial Aid Basics

Watch the video of last year's Junior Financial Aid Night or go through a presentation on paying for college. Get your questions answered during the group Zoom chat with Mr. Chiakulas on Monday, April 6 from 11am-12pm.

SAT Prep

Visit Khan Academy and utilize their FREE SAT test prep resources, including full practice tests and problems customized to what you need to work on.

Understanding Your Financial Aid Award Letters

Learn how to compare award letters to determine your actual out-of-pocket cost and compare your options as you make your final decisions. Watch this video from ISAC in advance and Zoom chat with Mr. Chiakulas on Wednesday, April 1st from 1-2pm.

FAFSA/Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid Completion

Have you not yet completed the FAFSA/Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid? Did you get a notice that there is an error or you need to submit for verification? Take care of these items ASAP! Most college's Financial Aid offices are open to call if you have a question. For more information, including our FAFSA packet, go to our Financial Aid webpage.

Apply for Scholarships

Apply for as many scholarships as possible! Nothing beats free money. Use Naviance to help search and see Mrs. Knott's presentation slides for more tips!

Apply to Harper College

Whether Harper is your Plan A or Plan Z, it never hurts to have your local community college as an option. You may even want to take classes there over the summers to catch up/get ahead for a lower cost. Find the application here.
