    The Illinois Youth Survey (IYS) will be administered to the Hersey student body on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018. Hersey High School conducts the IYS every other year to collect anonymous data on adolescent behaviors. A letter has been sent home detailing its implementation. Although parents have an opt-out option, we encourage each student to participate as it will aid our school in developing and accessing supports necessary to promote student growth.

  • Orchesis Huskie Dance Workshop

    Orchesis is hosting their Annual Spring Dance & Audition Workshop for dancers PreK - 8th grade on Saturday, April 21st from 12:45pm - 3:30pm. Dancers will be grouped by grade level to learn a jazz combination to be performed at the end of the workshop. An audition workshop is offered to 8th grade students interested in Orchesis. Dancers will work on skills needed for the audition. They will also learn a short combination for the performance. Registration and payment are due by April 13th.

    Designed for parents, teachers, therapists, and other adults who want to support youth, this program provides an overview of gender and sexual identity, as well as the specific challenges experienced by young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ), or those who are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity.   • Hersey Marching Band Captures First Place at Red & Black Fall Classic

    The John Hersey High School Marching Band won first place overall and in its class Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Red & Black Fall Classic marching band competition at Northern Illinois University. The Hersey Marching Band also received a first place award for Best Overall Effect in Class AAAA. The honor is given to the band with the best combined musical and visual performance. In addition, they received the best percussion, best brass and best woodwind scores in the competition.
