District 214 Board appoints Prospect High School administrator

The High School District 214 Board of Education on February 8 appointed Christina Athanasopoulos as Prospect High School’s Division Head of World Language and Social Science for the 2018-2019 school year.

Athanasopoulos, an Advanced Placement Psychology teacher at John Hersey High School, has extensive experience in the social science field.

She began her career in 1997 as a psychology teacher at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. Three years later, she joined District 214 as a social science teacher and later implemented the Advanced Placement psychology program for the District.

Additionally, Athanasopoulos is an affiliate professor at North Park University. She is a college board consultant for Advanced Placement psychology since 2001 and served as the program’s assistant chief reader for 10 years.

Athanasopoulos earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University and her master’s degree in school counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, and received a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
