The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be offered at Hersey High School on Saturday, October 19, 2013. The cost for this test is $25.00. (Checks payable to John Hersey High School), and students will need to sign up in the Assessment Center, Room 141B, by September 20, 2013. This test measures verbal reasoning and mathematics skills. It also enables juniors who score at high levels to qualify for college scholarships. It is a junior year "practice" for college entrance exams and can be used as a predictor for SAT scores. It also identifies National Merit Scholars .
STUDENTS SHOULD BRING A PHOTO ID, CALCULATOR FOR THE MATH PORTION, 2 #2 pencils (not mechanical) TO THE TEST.
A PSAT test prep program is available for juniors. For details contact Dr. Charles Venegoni or Peggy Hunt in the English department.
**An alternative date is available to Juniors or Sophomores with a religious or school related conflict, on Wednesday, October 16 at Forest View Educational Center at 2121 Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights. Students are asked to provide their own transportation to and from Forest View. Students will be excused for the morning; however, students will be responsible for making up missed class work.
