Thursday, 9/10 - We lost to a very good Glenbrook South team, 160-171. Maggie Anderson was the low Huskie (40) and was followed by her playing partner, Sophia Cacioppo (41) who had two birdies in row on the 2nd and 3rd holes! Megan Kopeny and Lexi Heidkamp finished the scoring for Hersey, both shooting a 45. The girls were not happy with their overall team play, but the 171 was a tie for the fifth best score in school history!
Thursday, 9/3 - Hersey kept its solid golf going with a 166 against a very good Glenbrook North (169) team at Rob Roy Golf Course (par 36). The 166 team score topped the 169 we shot on 8/25 for the second lowest in school history! Megan Kopeny had two birdies that led to a four-over, 40. Sophia Cacioppo shot her best round of the year (41) after birdieing the tough 9th hole. Lexi Heidkamp shot a 42 and Maggie Anderson shot a 43 to round out the Huskie scoring.
Tuesday, 9/1 - ALL six golfers shot in the 40's today at Highland Woods Golf Course (Par 36) against Barrington (163) and Hoffman Estates (231). Lexi Heidkamp was the low Huskie with a 40 (+4) and was followed by Maggie Anderson's 43. Megan Kopeny, Sophia Cacioppo, and Jasmin Lee all shot a 44 and Jamie Ziah shot a 49. It was a great team effort that was bested by a solid Barrington team.
Thursday, 8/27 - We had another REALLY tough meet today against Fremd and Buffalo Grove at Palatine Hills. The Huskies played great, but we were outplayed by two great teams. Our 173 was bested by both Buffalo Grove (164) and Fremd (167). Maggie Anderson continued her stellar play with a 41 and was followed by a pair of 43's from Megan Kopeny and Lexi Heidkamp.
Tuesday, 8/25 - The Huskies ended an ELEVEN YEAR unbeaten conference streak of the powerhouse Prospect Knights! Junior, Maggie Anderson, had two birdies and shot her career low round at Hersey (39) to lead the Huskies to the historic win. Megan Kopeny (Jr.) and Lexi Heidkamp (Sr.) continued their steady play, both shooting 42's. Jasmin Lee (Jr.) and Jamie Ziah (Sr.) both shot 46's to complete the scoring for the Huskies. It was not the team's best round at Rob Roy, but it just proves that any team can beat any other team on any given day. Rolling Meadows shot a 206, but was bested by both Prospect (173) and Hersey (169). Hersey's 169 was the second lowest in school history!
Saturday, 8/22 - The 2015 Hersey Invite (Orange & Brown Throwdown) had to be shortened to nine holes because of slow play and darkness. 12 teams and 66 girls teed off the first hole, but only about 18 girls actually finished the full 18 holes. Junior, Megan Kopeny, was one of them and she shot her career low at Hersey (40-37=77), but only the front nine score counted towards the team's total of 179. St. Charles East won the tournament with a 176. Senior, Lexi Heidkamp, shot a 39 on the front nine and took home 2nd place overall for individuals. Kopeny finished 3rd. Jasmin Lee (Jr.) and Jamie Ziah (Sr.) rounded out the scoring for the Huskies with a 48 and 52 respectively.
Tuesday, 8/18 - The Huskies traveled to the Glenview Prairie Golf Club (Par 31) to play a non-conference match against Maine West and came home with a resounding win. Junior, Megan Kopeny, paced the Huskies with two birdies to shoot a 2-over, 33, and was followed closely by senior, Lexi Heidkamp, who had seven pars and shot a 34. Sophia Cacioppo (Jr.) shot a 37 and both Maggie Anderson (Jr.) and Jasmin Lee (Jr.) shot 38. Senior, Jamie Ziah, rounded out the scoring with a 39 and her first birdie of the season. Hersey wins 142-201.
Monday, 8/17 - Conant Early Bird Invite at Fox Run Golf Links (Par 70) - Junior, Megan Kopeny, led the Huskies with an 86 and was followed by senior, Lexi Heidkamp's 88, and juniors, Sophia Cacioppo (94) and Maggie Anderson (95). Hersey finished in 7th place out of 13 teams with a team score of 363. St. Charles North won the 18-hole tournament with scores of 70-73-74-82 for a total of 299!!! Did we just play the 2015 State Champions?!?!?! Or are we going to give them a run for their money in October?!?!!? We shall see.
Monday/Tuesday, 10/13 & 10/14 - The Warren Sectional at Bittersweet Golf Club (Par 72) was filled with tremendous teams and individuals...and a bunch of rain. Played was suspended twice on Monday and then postponed till Tuesday. Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) was 12-over par thru 16 holes and Megan Kopeny (So.) was 11-over par thru 12 holes on Monday. Heidkamp finished in a tie for 32nd place overall with an 87 and Kopney shot an 86 to finish in a tie for 28th. New Trier (323), Prospect (330), and Loyola (333) qualified for the State tournament this weekend and Madasyn Petterson (73) was the individual Sectional Champion.
Wednesday, 10/8 - The Huskie Girls' Golf team shot a 378 to finish 7th place in one of, if not, the toughest Regional in the State at Glencoe Golf Club (Par 73). The tournament was hosted and won by Loyola Acadmey (332). Megan Kopeny (So.) qualified as an individual for the Sectional tournament on Monday, October 13th by shooting an 88. Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) also qualified, but she did it in a much more exciting fashion. Heidkamp finished with a 93 and was tied with two other golfers, Lauren Hattory (Rolling Meadows) and Hannah Buckband (Glenbrook South). The three of them headed to a playoff for the final two Sectional spots. Heidkamp hit the best drive of her season down the left side of the fairway that led to one shot victory over her fellow playoff competitors on the first playoff hole. Megan and Lexi will head back to Bittersweet Golf Club in Gurnee on the 13th for the IHSA Sectional.
Monday, 10/6 - The Huskie golfers took a trip to the exclusive Medinah Country Club to play the host team, Lake Park, Conant, and Elk Grove. Hersey was lead by sophomore, Megan Kopeny, as she shot a 45 on the back nine of Course #2 (Par 36). She shared individual medalist honors with Carly Bryeans from Conant. Sophia Cacioppo (So.) finished one stroke back with a 46. The team shot a 191 to beat all three teams and continue their momentum into the State Playoffs.
Saturday, 10/4 - The rain, wind, and terribly low temperatures forced the Warren Invite to be shortened to 9 holes. The Huskies shot a combined 44 over par to finish 2nd place behind the Crystal Lake Central/Cary Co-Op team (+41). Megan Kopeny (So.) came in with the second lowest individual score (+6) and Sophia Cacioppo (So.) finished in 8th place (+11). The varisty team is planning on heading back to Bittersweet Golf Club on October 13th for Sectionals.
Tuesday, 9/30 - Sophia Cacioppo (So.) shot her career best 18-hole round (85) to lead the Huskies to a team 355 and a 6th place finish in a VERY difficult MSL Conference Tournament. Sophia, who finished tied for 9th place overall, was the JV Conference Champion last year at the same course (Palatine Hills, Par 72)...so the future is bright! Megan Kopeny (So.) shot an 87 and finished tied for 15th in Conference and Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) shot an 89 to finish in a tie for 20th. Prospect continued their Conference dominance by shooting a team 332 and edging out Buffalo Grove by only three strokes.
Kortney Jansen (Fr.) shoots an 84 at Bonnie Dundee Golf Club (Par 71) to win the JV Individual Championship at the MSL Conference Tournament! Jansen follows Sophia Cacioppo (So.) as JV Individual Champions. The JV Huskies finished in 3rd place behind Barrington and Prospect.
Saturday, 9/27 - The Huskies repeated as Rolling Meadows Invite Champions shooting the second lowest team score in school history (346). Megan Kopeny (So.) won the individual championship by shooting an 82 at Arlington Lakes Golf Club (Par 68). Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) tied for 2nd place overall with an 85. Sisters, Maggie and Becky Anderson, finished off the scoring for Hersey, shooting an 89 and 90 respectively.
Wednesday, 9/24 - Megan Kopeny (So.) lead the way for the Huskies again...shooting a 40 (+4) at the challenging Chevy Chase Country Club. Hersey shot a 177 to beat Wheeling.
Tuesday, 9/23 - Megan Kopeny (So.) fired a 39 (+4) at Fox Run Golf Links to lead the Huskies to a 174-183 victory over a talented Conant team. She was bested by one stroke for Medalist honors by Conant's Megan Nagorzanski (38). Becky Anderson (Sr.) 44, Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) 45, and a pair of 46's by Maggie Anderson (So.) and Sophia Cacioppo (So.) finished off the scoring for Hersey (7-3 in Conference).
Saturday, 9/20 - Kortney Jansen (Fr.) shot a team-low 88 at the Lake Park JV Invitational that was held at Flagg Creek Golf Course (Par 66). She finished in 8th place out of 60 JV golfers. The JV team finished 3rd out of ten teams.
Friday, 9/19 - Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) lead the way for Hersey with a 41 (+5) and was followed by a pair of 43's by Ashley Johnstone (Sr.) and Megan Kopeny (So.). Hersey wins 175-184.
Thursday, 9/18 - Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) birdies two consecutive holes at Rob Roy Golf Course en route to a 40 and her second Medalist round in a row. Sophia Cacioppo (So.) tied her season low with a 41 and the Huskies beat Schaumburg 171-197. Maggie Anderson (So.) shot a 44 and Megan Kopeny (So.) finished with a 46 to round out the scoring. The team score was the third lowest in school history.
Tuesday, 9/16 - Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) lead the way for the Huskies, shooting a 44 (+8) at Rob Roy Golf Course (Par 36), in their solid victory over Palatine, 183-207. The rest of the team was very consistent: Megan Kopeny (46), Sophia Cacioppo (46), Maggie and Becky Anderson (47), and Jasmin Lee (48).
Thursday, 9/11 - Sophomore, Megan Kopeny, continues her solid play at Fox Run Golf Links (Par 35) to earn her Medalist honors with a 40. The temperature dropped below 50 degrees, but it did not stop her from making four pars and a birdie. The Huskies defeated the Grens 184-190.
Tuesday, 9/9 - Sophomores, Megan Kopeny and Jasmin Lee, tie for Medalist honors with 43's! This was Jasmin's first Varsity Medalist round! Hersey wins 175-220 over St. Viator.
Thursday, 9/4 - Glenbrook South was beating the Huskies by 16 strokes after the first four scores, but we were saved by sophomores, Maggie Anderson and Jasmin Lee. Lee shot a 44 and Anderson stole the show with a career-low 40 to earn her first Varsity Medalist honors! Hersey wins 172-179!
Wednesday, 9/3 - Sophomore, Megan Kopeny, lead the way for the Huskies shooting a 40 (+4) at Rob Roy. Sophomore, Jasmin Lee, stepped into the lineup and fired a 43! Hersey shot a team score of 173, but was bested by Barrington's 161. We got a split for the day by beating Hoffman Estates (213).
Tuesday, 9/2 - Sophomore, Megan Kopeny, lead the way for the Huskies with a 42, but Amy Hong and Emma Vickery both shot 37 to set the standard for Glenbrook North. We shot another great team score of 176, but GBN fired a 167.
Friday, 8/29 - Junior, Lexi Heidkamp, shoots a blistering 38 to earn Medalist honors in a close loss to Prospect. The 38 was her career low at Hersey and the 4th best 9-hole score ever at the school. Hersey shot a team score of 174, but was edged out by Prospect's 167. Coming that close to the defending state champions is great sign for the future of Hersey Girls Golf. We did beat Rolling Meadows (203) for a 1-1 finish for the day.
Thursday, 8/28 - Tied Fremd with a 179...and tied on the fifth score playoff...but lost on the SIXTH score playoff! Becky Anderson (Sr.) tied for Medalist honors with a 6 over-par 43. Hersey did beat a VERY talented Buffalo Grove team, who shot a 186.
Saturday, 8/23 - The Huskie Invite, otherwise known as the Orange & Brown Throwdown, was rained out at Arlington Lakes Golf Club. The players only played about six holes before the course was flooded and the lightning took over. Until 2015.
Tuesday, 8/19 - Megan Kopeny (So.) wins Medalist honors with a 3 over-par 39 at Rob Roy Golf Course. Sophia Cacioppo (So.) shot a 41 and Lexi Heidkamp (Jr.) shot a 42. Hersey beats Maine West 170-228.
Monday, 8/18 - Conant Early Bird Invite - Sophomore, Megan Kopeny, started the season off strong with an 87 at Fox Run Golf Links. Junior, Lexi Heidkamp, shot an 89 and sophomores, Sophia Cacioppo and Maggie Anderson rounded out the scoring with a 93 and 94 respectively.
